Best Tofu recipe:

1) Put it in the refrigerator

2) Look at it for several weeks.

3) Throw it away.

Basically, Tofu is not even a food. It's about as appetizing as a soggy sponge (and actually, I'd prefer eating a sponge since at least it's a lot cheaper). What are some luscious tofu recipes?

Most of these sound great!
Anything Japanese or Chinese. Nothing Western. Never try to make hamburgers or cakes with tofu! If you use it as it is meant to it will taste great.

My favourite tofu recipes are mabo dofu, which is stir-fried in a spicy sauce with pork mince, or tofu dengaku, which is grilled with a sweet miso sauce spread over it. You can also drain and press it, cut in half to make two thin steaks, flour and fry in oil for tofu steak which goes with all kinds of things - I like it with kimchee.

(Naganegi onion is leek, and you can buy tobanjan from any Chinese grocer)

(There are some other tofu recipes here as well)
';Luscious tofu'; is an oxymoron. You can make it palatable by adding some ';au jus';.
This recipe is actually from 2 months ago in Yahoo Answers by someone named Animal Rights Girl and it is very good. You can cook the tofu any way you want to.

I got this one!! Let me tell you...you're gonna love it! I serve it to everyone at my house, even the non-veggie people and they all love it. First thing is this...open the tofu package and drain out the water. Put a dish towel on the counter and set the tofu on the towel. Put another dish towel on top of the tofu. Then place two heavy books on the top of that so the excess water gets squeezed out of the tofu. (TRUST ME) Let it sit that way for a while...at least a half hour. After you're done with that, slice the tofu into nice thick slabs...maybe 3/4'; thick. Put it into a pan and pour Italian dressing all over it. Turn the pieces around so they're all covered in the dressing. Let that marinate for at least a half hour. (I marinate veggies in this as well, it's delicious!) Grill as usual, just like anything else. It does stick to the grill, though, so have a spatula ready to scrape it off. It is soooo yummy! When we do it, I always grill extra to have on hand in the fridge, and I can't keep my hands off of it til it's all gone. :o) I hope you try this, and I hope you love it as much as we do!
This is the recipe that i use basically every tine i make tofu...its so good!!!

Spiced Tofu

Ingredients:

1 pound tofu

1 tbs. oil

½ tsp of each:

Turmeric, basil,

thyme, ground cumin,

curry powder

2 cloves chopped garlic

2 tbs. soy sauce

1/8 cup nutritional yeast

Drain the tofu and cut up into about 1/2 inch squares. Heat the oil in a pan on medium/high heat, sauté tofu until it’s brown. Reduce heat and add turmeric, stir tofu until it is all coated, then add basil, thyme, cumin, and curry powder. Add the garlic and turn up heat to high. Add soy sauce and the yeast and cook until tofu is golden brown. Adjust the ingredients until it’s tasty enough for you. EAT!
