Good tofu recipes for a 14 yr old..?
Simple one that people enjoy is cold tofu with sauce on top. I have done it with vegetarian oyster sauce which is essentially a mushroom soy sauce that is slightly sweet. It is quick easy and delicious and you can add grated carrots, spinach, bean sprouts and other veggies and put it in some boiling broth and have a hot pot. For the broth take some veg. broth add some ginger and garlic and soy or veg oyster sauce some rice wine vinegar, maybe a little Sriracha or other hot sauce and heat it up to boiling then put it in a fondue pot or over a portable burner and serve a platter with the veggies and tofu and dip them in and eat them or just add them to the pot and let them cook a little and serve in a bowl maybe with some cooked noodles or rice.

I could go into many many many recipes with tofu but I will leave it at these two easy ones but if you want more feel free to PM me
Recipe-wise, I prefer stir fry for firm tofu, but I also bake it and use it for veggie skewers over a grill and everything else. But you need some tips on how to prepare it BEFORE you prepare it, LOL.

First, look up online how to ';press tofu';, it'll give it yet another texture and it'll get some of the liquid out and make it easier to work with.

Firmer tofu is very useful, you can use it in stir fry (like you intend to), in pad thai, or in general any time a recipe calls for meat.

Also here's an online vegan cooking site:

The easiest tofu dish I made was a pasta, using store-bought sauce. Here's how:

- Boil pasta separately.

- Crumble tofu into small pieces, and fry in oil until it is brown.

- Add your favorite pasta sauce to the tofu %26amp; heat til warm

- Pour on pasta %26amp; serve.

I made this for a few friends for lunch, and they barely noticed it was vegetarian!

Yeah, I'm just here to read people's answers. I'm only 15, vegan, have extra firm tofu, and am super interested in all the recipes people are posting. :) I've never cooked tofu before.

Great question by the way! Here's a star...
I just mix it with some whole wheat pasta, vegetables (mostly peppers and asparagus, but almost any will work), sometimes some pineapple, and teriyaki sauce.
Tofu and carrots:

Take a block of tofu and cover with wholesome, freshly grated, carrots. Season to taste with soy sauce.
